The initial vision for a consumer-facing digital intervention designed to improve sleep quality, daytime functioning, and well-being through evidence-based behavioral strategies.

Role

As the lead designer, I partnered with behavior strategists and the client team to translate clinical interventions into a structured app experience.

The Challenge

Behavior strategists had identified effective sleep interventions, but these needed to be shaped into an intuitive, engaging digital product. How could we structure cognitive and behavioral techniques into a format that helps users build sustainable sleep habits over time?

Collaborative Ideation

I joined the project for a series of collaborative sketching sessions with the client, exploring how interventions could translate into app experiences.

Structuring the Experience

After sketching and before wireframing, we organized the predetermined interventions into a modular structure around which we could build the interactions.

Translating Strategy into Design

Once the structure was there, it was easy to imagine the user interface. Conversations with the client enabled me to align on the correct level of fidelity and aesthetics.

Many early sketches included calendar concepts, so I designed an interactive calendar that visualized user progress through modules—creating a sense of momentum as it filled out over time.

Outcome

We validated that the interventions could work as an app experience, gave the client what they needed to secure internal approval, and established a clear direction for implementation.
