meQ: NextGen
An enterprise wellness platform that uses assessment data, evidence-based learning, and cognitive behavioral techniques to measurably improve workforce resilience.
Role
As the principal designer at meQ, I partnered with leadership, research, engineering, and content teams to lead multiple projects centered around improving existing functionality and launching new features.
Challenge
When I joined meQ, the product faced multiple challenges:
- Confusing user experience with significant inconsistencies between native and web platforms
- Outdated UI with visual inconsistencies and accessibility issues
- A sales driven process that lacked rigor and deign

Design System
I designed and implemented meQ’s first design system. While the system established visual foundations and consistent patterns across multiple platforms, it also aligned tech and design on a unified language and process. The resulting component library grew organically as we tackled new product areas and solved many of the visual inconsistencies that had plagued the platform.
Architecting the Future
I audited the existing product and proposed a new information architecture. The IA would need to account for large parts of the experience that needed updating, as well as features that were no longer serving a purpose. Once the IA was complete I worked with leadership, strategy, product management, and content to align stakeholders and translate the new IA into workstreams that formed the basis of our product roadmap.
Rebuilding the Product
I led the redesign of several core platform features including registration and onboarding, the dashboard, skill-building modules, activities, content library exploration, and personalized recommendations. Each redesign addressed both usability and accessibility issues while establishing patterns we could scale across the platform.
New Features
While addressing foundational UX issues, I designed a handful of new features that increasingly leveraged AI to personalize the experience:
- Manager-focused features that analyzed assessment data to identify strengths and weaknesses, accompanied by AI-generated explanations and personalized content recommendations
- A mood coach that analyzed user entries over time to suggest next steps and provide feedback
- An in-the-moment recommendation system that surfaced relevant content based on user prompts
- Action plan tools for building new habits
Outcomes
Successfully launched redesigned core features and new functionality across both web and native platforms. Collaborated with research throughout to validate designs through usability testing and iterative refinement. The design system was fully adopted across product teams, and engagement metrics improved—users spent more time building skills and practicing activities.
