Simplify access to the people, information, and tools required on a daily basis by employees at one of the largest freight railroad networks in North America.
Role
As the Solutions Lead, I transformed months of research and a wide range of user stories into a unified interface. Partnering closely with a UX researcher, I tested wireframes for both usability and desirability, then designed high-fidelity mockups that were brought to life in a working prototype.
Based on our learnings from research I created a set of design pinciples to ensure that immediate and future decisions related to layout, navigation, features, and functionality adhere to end-user preferences.
Each feature we proposed tied directly to pain points and user stories surfaced through research. The designs went through two rounds of testing — first on a set of clickable wireframes, then on a high-fidelity prototype.
While the proposed tool centered around ways to quickly launch and arrange an employee’s workspace it also gave them easy access to simple tools that streamlined their daily workflow.
Outcome
A fully functional prototype supported by two rounds of usability testing. I presented the design and rationale to leadership, and the project advanced to an internal review phase to build company-wide support.
